Leaves: an exceptional bright pink in spring, variegated green and pink during the summer, and yellowish orange in autumn. A very delicate variety to grow. Difficult to reproduce. The only palmatum variety presenting this bright pink hue.

Acer palmatum 'Beni-schichihenge'

‘Beni-schichihenge' shines in the spring. Its leaves are radiant with color – fresh bright greens edged in pure, clear white, heavily marked with eye-catching rose- pink, with an added undertone of orange. Like a multicoloured snowflake, every leaf is unique, slightly different in color and shape from the next. Adding to the show is a rich, crimson leaf stem (petiole).

Acer palmatum 'Hupp's Dwarf'

The tiniest of leaves, the size of your fingertip, cover the branches of this very dwarf tree. After the second year, no more than two inches of growth per year with internodes almost on top of one another. Small stature and almost furry texture. Easy to grow though difficult to propagate due to the short internodes.

Green upright maple. Turns a deep scarlet in the fall. One of the best for fall colour. Dislikes wet feet or windy sites. Plant in a well drained site. Can grow to 15 feet.

Acer palmatum ‘Red Emperor’

An improved version of Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood', retaining a superior leaf colour throughout the summer. Foliage changes to dark crimson in the autumn. Upright habit with an expected height of 175cm in 10 years. Ysually leafs out a few days later than 'Bloodgood' in the spring, lessening the chance of frost damage and also resistant to leaf burn in full sun.

Acer palmatum var dissectum ‘Heartbeat’
 
An Australian cultivar that is just making its way into the gardening culture of the United States, 'Heartbeat' would be a great addition to any garden. The leaves are extremely dissected with lobes that are held very far apart, making the overall leaf almost appear round. The habit is very low and spreading forming a plant that is much wider than tall. Spring colour is more red and less purple than other similar Japanese Maples. As summer approaches leaves turn first bronze then green but this vigorous grower seems to put on new red growth at the tips all summer long even in hot climates. Fall color is crimson.

Acer palmatum var dissectum ‘Tamukeyama’ – Oriental

Serpentine shape. 'Tamukeyama' has been grown in Japan for around 300 years, and it has become accepted as one of the best dissectums in cultivation, and probably the best red dissectum for hot climates. Not only tolerates, but thrives in full sun. Vigorous & mound-forming. New growth is dark purple-red in spring and hold very well especially in sunny locations. Fall colour brightens to a mix of fiery reds with a hint of orange undertones.

Acer pseudoplatanus 'Eskimo Sunset'

Esk Sunset (AKA Eskimo Sunset) is a stunning maple! It's spring leaves emerge orange-pink and settle into a leaf that is green splashed with cream & pink colouring. Incredibly the underside of the leaf is purple! Originating from the Esk Valley on the North Island of New Zealand, this medium sized tree will grow to 12 feet in 10 years. Needs some protection from the hot sun in very hot areas.
