Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop'

Lush darkest burgundy/black foliage blankets the ground. Leaves are slightly more upright and wavy. Blue flower spikes appearing in late spring. Evergreen in milder climates, this extremely hardy groundcover can be walked on, mowed over, raked clean and generally abused. Patented.

Arctostaphylos uva-ursi 'Vancouver Jade'

Also know as Kinnikinnick, this is a selection of a native North American wildflower, introduced by the U.B.C. Botanical Gardens. Plants form a dense mat of glossy evergreen leaves, the stems rooting along the ground. Light pink bell-shaped flowers appear in spring, followed by a showy display of scarlet berries. Foliage turns a beautiful bronzy-red in winter, particularly in colder regions. Best in a well-drained sandy to loam soil, this dislikes poorly-drained clay. Drought tolerant, once established. Registered with COPF: royalty required for propagation.

Cistus 'Mickie'

This stable variegated form has a low, mounding habit that hugs the ground and creates a super colorful, evergreen colourspot. Bright yellow-gold leaves have irregular sage green centers and held aloft on cherry red stems. Tolerant of harsh winters. Charming white flowers punctuate the flashy foliage in May and June. Deer resistant and drought tolerant.
