Very compact perennial with cherry-red tubular flowers from mid-to-late summer It's perfect in small yards and for flowering containers. 'Cherry Ripe' also has good cold hardiness; don't cut it back in the fall and mulch heavily to protect the crown from extreme cold.  Semi-evergreen in warmer climates.
